If you could smell my house right now, oh man, the aroma of cinnamon and butter has taken over and it smells absolutely delicious. These Eggless Cinnamon Rolls are to die for!
My Cinnamon Rolls took a few trials since I wanted to retain the fluffiness of the rolls without the use of eggs, but I am confident that this is the best Eggless Cinnamon Rolls recipe out there. It’s fluffy, soft and gooey. Additionally, it uses a cream cheese frosting with a splash of lemon juice.
If you have been craving some cinnamony goodness, these are the rolls for you! Trust me when I tell you that these rolls are as good as any roll you will find in a bakery. The best part is that you can customize these rolls the way you like, more cinnamon, less sugar, more frosting, all these things are under your control!
You can prepare these rolls beforehand, bake them on the same day or even keep them in the refrigerator overnight and bake them the next morning! Don’t forget to top these golden beauties with the cream cheese frosting!

1 cup + 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
3 cups plain flour+ more for dusting

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup thick yoghurt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup melted butter
Cinnamon Filling

1 tablespoon cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Frosting
3/4 cream cheese (150 grams approx)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions for Eggless Cinnamon Rolls
- In a small bowl; add half cup warm milk, vinegar and stir. Cover and set aside.
- In a bowl add milk, yeast, sugar and stir to mix. Cover and set aside for 10 minutes for it to be frothy.
- In a large bowl; add plain flour, salt, baking powder, soda, cinnamon and mix.
- Add yoghurt, vanilla, melted butter, yeast mix, vinegar milk and stir to just combine everything together.
- Now transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead with your hands until it is smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes). Form it into a ball.
- Grease the bowl and place the dough inside.
- Cover the bowl with a warm, damp towel and put the bowl in a warm place to rise.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising prepare the filling.
Cinnamon filling
- In a small bowl, combine butter, brown sugar and cinnamon until mixture is homogenous (uniform throughout). Set aside.
- Assemble Cinnamon Rolls
- Sprinkle a large work surface with flour.
- Gently press the gas out of the dough and form it into a rectangle.
- Roll the dough into a 24×12” rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the filling all over the dough using greased hands or a greased spatula. This process can seem difficult but it gets easier as you spread it.
- Roll it up from the longest side, roll tightly but not too tight. Pinch the seam tightly and cut into 12 equal-sized rolls (feel free to measure and cut each roll to be 2″ long).
- Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly grease. Then place rolls in 4 rows of three, evenly spaced.
- Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
Bake Cinnamon Rolls
- Once rolls are doubled in size, bake them in the preheated oven at 160 degrees, until golden brown, about 18-20 minutes.
- NOTE: Check the centre cinnamon rolls and make sure they are baked through. If your oven bakes cool or unevenly you may need to increase the baking time up to 10 minutes longer. If the top starts to brown before the centre is baked, tent the baking pan with foil to prevent further browning).
Cream Cheese Frosting
- While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Do not chill the frosting. Keep it at room temperature until the cinnamon rolls are baked.
- Once the cinnamon rolls have been removed from the oven, spread the cream cheese frosting on them while they are still warm.
- Enjoy!
