Kathal Masala is a simple dish made from unripe jackfruit. This delicious and very flavorful dry sabji is made in mustard oil. I love the pungent aroma of the mustard oil in this dish. I have used all the ingredients found easily in our kitchen.

INGREDIENTS FOR KATHAL MASALA
300 grams kathal boiled (unripe jackfruit)
1 onion sliced
1 tablespoon garlic chopped
½ teaspoon jeera (cumin)
1 tablespoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1/3 teaspoon haldi (turmeric)
1 teaspoon amchur (mango powder)
½ teaspoon garam masala
A pinch of hing (asafoetida)
2 tablespoon mustard oil
DIRECTIONS FOR KATHAL MASALA
- Boil kathal for about 8-10 minutes.
- Drain the water after boiling kathal.
- Heat oil in a pan; add jeera, hing, and the kathal and saute on medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Add the onion and saute till the onions have browned.
- Add all the spices and toss well.
- Serve with rice or roti.
