Cabbage and Green Peas Pulao is a delicious and flavourful dish. Made with few ingredients this is quick fix one dish meal. I make this pulao when I want to make something quick and easy.
For making a good pulao one must use good quality long grain Basmati rice. I like to use ghee for most of the rice preparation in Indian style as ghee little ghee is good for health and it enhances the taste of the dish also. Serve with papad, dahi (yogurt) and coriander chutney.

INGREDIENTS FOR Cabbage And Green Peas Pulao
1 cup Basmati Rice
½ cup Matar (green peas) frozen can be used
1½ cup cabbage chopped thinly
½ cup tomato chopped
1” piece ginger grated
1 green chilli slit
¼ cup coriander chopped
2 bay leaves
2 teaspoon jeera (cumin)
1 tablespoon dhania powder
½ teaspoon chilli powder
1/3 teaspoon haldi
½ teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
2 tablespoon ghee
2½ cups water
1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
DIRECTIONS FOR Cabbage And Green Peas Pulao
- Soak the rice and keep aside.
- Heat ghee in a deep pan; add cumin and bay leaves and fry for a few seconds.
- Add the ginger and green chilli, cabbage, green peas and saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Cover and cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes, all the spices, salt and saute for 2 minutes.
- Drain the rice, add to the vegetables and saute till the rice is well coated and translucent.
- Add water and give one stir.
- Once it starts boiling cover and cook on low heat.
- When water is almost absorbed, stir in lemon juice, cover and cook till rice is done.
- Let it rest for few minutes and then add coriander.
- Serve with dahi (yogurt) and papad.
